Rinpoche’s recap:  On July 6th, we had a birthday celebration for his Holiness the Dalai Lama at the Manhunt Dharma Center in Pacific Grove. We prayed for his long life, and watched some very funny videos of him. We then enjoyed our always wonderful lucky pot and some terrific music by Michael Martinez on keyboard, Steve Baker on sitar,  and David Molk on banjo, harmonica, and flute. Thanks to all musicians, and those who brought delicious food. It was a joyous occasion, and we hope to have this celebration for many years to come!

General Description:  Thursday, July 6th, 2017 will mark the 82nd birthday of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso. He describes himself as a simple Buddhist monk, but he is also the spiritual leader of Tibet and a leader of peace around the world.

The community is invited to gather at the Manjushri Dharma Center to celebrate the Dalai Lama’s birthday with food, music, and friendship.   Attendees are encouraged to bring a “luckypot” item to share (that is Rinpoche speak for potluck).   We are fortunate this year to have been donated a stunning thangka (religious painting) of the 14th Dalai Lama, courtesy of the staff at Bernardus Lodge, which will be displayed prominently and honored as we celebrate this incredible man of peace.
