Our friend Stephen Goodfield passed away when I was in New York. I was sad not to be able to be with him at that time. However, Buddha said that the end of birth is death, the end of meeting is parting, the end of collecting is dispersal, and the end of rising is falling. Impermanence is really the nature of our world. While he was alive, Stephen was my neighbor. Not only that, he built an altar for our Dharma center, and he had great faith in me. I will be conducting services for him for seven weeks from the date of his passing, and request all who are connected with me and Manjushri Dharma Center to keep him in your hearts and to continue to make prayers for him.
