…”the essence of Mahayana Buddhism is cherishing others.  When you speak of cherishing others, many may think it means letting go of all profit and just accepting defeat, but it is not really like that. When you give up self-cherishing and think, even briefly, about the welfare of other sentient beings–that is the beginning of finding your own true happiness.
