Last night, 3/27, we commemorated the the 20th anniversary of the Parinirvana of my Root Guru, Kyabje Sangye Tenzin Rinpoche, with the Practice of Guru Yoga Practice virtually on the video conferencing platform Zoom.
We were extremely fortunate to welcome the Very Venerable Kyabje Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche. Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche is a very great and senior Kagyu Master; He is a student of the 16th Karmapa and a Teacher of the 17th Karmapa, HH Ogyen Trinley Dorje. Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche holds the entire Kagyu lineage; He is almost 90 years old now and was a very dear friend of my Root Guru. We were so fortunate to have Him on this very special day.
At the same time, many other great and accomplished Dharma practitioners including Khenpos, Geshes, Tulkus, Lamas, monks, yogis, and yoginis were in attendance. Usually with events like this, there is planning of several weeks or months; I only had two days to prepare and send invitations. Even with the short notice, more than 75 people from all over the world were present. This demonstrates the devotion, veneration, and respect for my Root Guru, Sangye Tenzin Rinpoche, that one does not even have to ask.
I am so grateful and overjoyed. I just thought to myself, without technological advancements like social media and Zoom, it would be impossible to bring such a special and diverse group of people from across the globe to this small Dharma Center. It is really amazing! Therefore, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who participated and joined and also to those who helped to organize and facilitate the practice.
Best Wishes and Tashi Delek!
