A few days ago, I received this package in the mail from my kindhearted Teacher, Khenpo Karten Rinpoche. Inside of this beautiful case, Rinpoche had enclosed a photograph of Himself and His Holiness the Dalai Lama, along with a red knot bracelet blessed by HH and a quote from HH etched on a wood block, reading “THE PURPOSE OF OUR LIVES IS TO BE HAPPY”. How can I relate the love, kindness, and compassion that Khenpo La has always shown me?
The next day, I watched the live streaming of the Vajrakilaya (Dorje Phurba) practice that Rinpoche held at the Manjushri Dharma Center in Pacific Grove, California.
That night I had a dream (though recollecting upon waking the dream remained fuzzy in my memory) and in it I had the extremely fortunate Darshan of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, which left me with a sense of great joy and warm-heartedness. In the same dream, I also saw my Teacher, Khenpo Karten Rinpoche; Rinpoche was giving an oral transmission and empowerment from his meditation throne, and I remember reciting a mantra which I had never heard before.
The connection with these events coinciding with the thoughtful gift of my Teacher, His association with HH the Dalai Lama, and the Dharma practice that night, I truly felt that two Great Lamas showed me such love and care even in the dream state, which gives me happiness, hope and faith that they will continue to be with me in this life and future lives to come! “In all lives may I never be parted from perfect Gurus, enjoy the glory of Dharma, completing all qualities of the paths and stages, may I swiftly attain the state of Vajradhara.”
