My Kind Father and the Wooden Bowl was originally a blog post written by Khenpo Karten Rinpoche entitled, “Happy Mother’s Day to my Father,” on May 13, 2018. It has been beautifully recorded by Rinpoche’s student Cassie and released just after Father’s Day as part of the Monday night chanted prayer practice on June, 17, 2024. The drawing is one that another student created to try and approximate an image of Rinpoche’s father and a young Rinpoche. Many thanks to Rinpoche for sharing the story of his father.
