Tashi Delek! This past weekend marked the end of a two-day preparation for an eventual Amitabha Dechen Shingdrup, the first that I’ve done in Northern California. The event was organized and sponsored by my very dear friends Ngudrup La and Wangchen La, without whom it wouldn’t have taken place. At this event, which was held at the Tibetan Association of Northern California, I spoke about the Amitabha Dechen Shingdrup, the preparation, and the four causes for rebirth in Sukhavati, Amitabha’s Western Pureland of Bliss. It was also to probe the interest in the area before conducting the full practice. Anyways, the first event was very well received by the local Sangha and everyone was very happy. I myself was also very happy with the way that everything turned out. The teaching was very nice, and everyone was extremely hospitable and welcoming and appreciative. Thank you to everyone who made the practice possible and to everyone who attended.

Great thanks to Rinpoche for leading the first annual Amitabha Dechen Shingdrup (chanted prayer retreat) in Northern California (Richmond) over the weekend of September 27-28, 2024!   Thank you to Ngudrup for sponsoring this historic and important event, and thanks to both Ngudrup and Wangchen for hosting and organizing!  Thank you Tibetan Association of Northern California for providing the beautiful location!  It was truly an uplifting event.  Below are 108 photos courtesy of Miles McBreen/Karma Palden.  Thank you Karma Palden!

And a few more photos, not from the weekend event, but from the internet.  The first showing a little more of the beautiful building and grounds, and a visit from His Holiness the Dalai Lama!  His Holiness the Dalai Lama visited the Tibetan Association of Northern California in 2014, photo courtesy of Yowangdu Tibetan Travel.   The street was later renamed “Dalai Lama Avenue” in 2019.
