There is a yurt raising underway! On Friday, Oct. 24th, 2025, the students of Lama Lakshey Zangpo began erecting the yurt that will be part of a retreat space in the Santa Cruz mountains–lovingly and informally called “the land.”
The 30-foot yurt was originally donated to Khenpo Karten Rinpoche by Thay Kozen, Rinpoche’s dear friend and the spiritual leader of Mount Adams Buddhist Temple. When Rinpoche decided to move MDC from Pacific Grove to the Pacific Northwest (no details on that yet, no timeline other than within the next year or two) Rinpoche offered the yurt to his dear Dharma brother Lama Lakshey Zangpo. The generous gift lives on and connects these three dear teachers and their students in a knot of unending good energy.
